Disclamer: As a large family of 7, with 5 children it’s safe to say the we don’t go to the movie theater often enough as a family.

It’s just something we typically don’t do. Let’s be honest, trying to keep 5 children under 12 years old quiet for a whole 120 minutes is a task for real. Can you imagine me having to answer 50 questions about the movie, as if I wrote the script. It’s requires some real patience for sure.

My children are seriously inquisitive when it comes to movies. They require an explanation for every scene in the movie. This is why we rarely go out to the theater. We invested into a few Fire Sticks from Amazon and we are able to stream new movies right at home. This is extremely helpful so that we are able to save but still watch new movies right from the comfort of our home.

After seeing the new trailer for the Sonic- The hedgehog movie we made the ultimate decision to go to the movie theater. We had my parents with us on vacation therefore, we all went to the movies. It was quite the family outing. It was a great way for us to bond together. My children hovered around my mom as she’s old school and had a bag of candy and granola bars inside.

Our children didn’t know much about the video game however, they were excited to get to go to movie theater. I began searching for a nearby theater and came across Studio Movie Grill in Kissimmee, Florida. I choose this place because it was relatively close to our resort. Also every Tuesday, they sell $5 movie tickets all day! Definitely couldn’t miss out on that! We went to eat lunch before we went at Olive Garden.

We caught a 3:30pm movie which wasn’t too early or too late.

The theater was equipped with self-service kiosks where you can purchase and print out your own tickets. When I was online, I registered for their reward program to start gaining rewards with every purchase. However, I purchased our tickets right at the counter. The lady at the ticket counter was very pleasant. She gave us our tickets and menus. This was definitely something that was different for us. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.

I noticed that the movie theater also had a full restaurant and bar.

I know I haven’t been to the movies in a while however, this movie theater was definitely something different. It had such a warm feeling. The atmosphere was definitely cleaner than any other theater I’ve been in. The staff were nice and welcoming. They smiled and greeted us.

Before the entertainment began, I took my kids to the bathroom.

There’s nothing worse than watching a great movie, and then having to leave for bathroom breaks. The bathroom was impeccable. Truly, it was and it smelled good. The sinks were very unique. In fact, the best I’ve seen. The sinks featured an automatic soap dispenser, and on the faucet it connected a hand dryer as well.

After the bathroom trip, we went into the theater. Literally, we were the only family there. However, when you purchase your tickets, you’ll have to choose your seats. The seats were extra comfy and they reclined with a touch of a button. We were immediately greeted by our server who introduced himself. The server told us the specials that they were having that day and took our drink order.

Being that we ate a late lunch at Olive Garden before we arrived, we weren’t hungry.
However, it was the coolest thing to have our drinks brought to us by the server. We didn’t have to get up and down to get snacks. Right from our seats we were able to order everything we needed. This was truly a great experience. This was the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this. This puts a whole new perspective on the idea of dinner and a movie.

Here you can literally have dinner and a movie in one place at the same time.

The movie started and the kids were excited! Sonic was a great movie. Our children truly enjoyed it. At first, when all of the lights shut off our two youngest children were a bit afraid of the dark. However, once the movie started, the light from the movie brought them comfort. During the movie, I found some parts of the storyline that were slow and dragging however, the kids absolutely enjoyed it.

My parents also thoroughly enjoyed their experience as well.

They raved about this theater and it’s phenomenal dining and entertainment service. It was a blessing to how them with us. It help with our adult to child ratio! This is definitely a memorable experience that my children will cherish forever. They’ll remember moments like this when they get older. Going to the movie theater with their grandparents and watching my father sleep during half of the movie. While my mother on the other hand had all the snacks in her bag, crunching on chips.

If you’re in the Kissimmee area and looking for a movie theater this is definitely the place to go. Try to go on Tuesday so that you can enjoy the $5 movie tickets as well. Great experience overall for both children and adults.
