Spread the love

Look, I know you just started your blog and you are super excited that you finally took the leap! However, now that you’re all up and live there’s no traffic, right?

I mean, you have no one besides probably your mom and best friends viewing your blog after you’ve bribed them to do so, right?

I totally get it! When I first started blogging, which wasn’t that long ago, I had no clue what my audience wanted. Heck, I didn’t even know what audience I had. Therefore, I knew nothing about creating content specifically for their liking. It sounds super weird, however, it is extremely important to know who you are writing for!

Listen, don’t get frustrated just yet. With blogging there is a bit of a learning curve however, it is all doable. You just have to learn how to strategize in order to gain profitable traffic to your new beautiful blog.

There are a couple of specific things that I did in order to gain traffic to my blog. These things allowed me to gain the most impact on my blog traffic. First thing is that I did a lot of studying. I’d looked at what I was doing and I looked at what wasn’t working.

If something isn’t working for you, the smart thing to do is to change up your strategies. After I implement a couple of changes to what I was already doing, this is where I started to see the most impact.

1. Identify who your audience is

In order to specifically target your readers, you need to know who exactly you are writing to. In doing so, you need to identify what your readers are looking for. I begin my research and discovered what my audience was in need of. Basically, I identified their problem. In your case, identify what problem exists in your niche. Once you identify the problem that exists, evaluate your solution.
This needs to take place before you begin any content creating. I promise you, once doing so, it will be so much easier to plan out your content and actually write effective posts.

2. What does your audience crave from you

I already alluded to this earlier, identify the loopholes that exist in your niche. You need to understand what you can bring that is unique to your audience. What is something different from your experience that you possess that can be a game-changer for your audience? I want you to think about any big retailer.

Let’s say Walmart for instances. What problem does Walmart solve? For starters living in New York. We didn’t have a wholesale retailer like Walmart, making affordable products more accessible for families. Therefore, Walmart solved its audience’s problem which keeps its clientele coming back. Now, Walmart isn’t for everyone, right? There are many people who despise Walmart and chooses Target instead. This is quite alright. In fact, there are going to be people who will not like your content and guess what? That’s quite alright, too!

It is important for you right now to understand that your audience isn’t any and everybody. You have a specific audience that are attached to your presence and voice. Your role is to identify who they are and create content they are in need of.

Initially, if you take a look and go back through my posts, you’ll see how I started changing up my topics and content. This is because I started to identify who I was writing to. In the beginning, expect to just write. Yes, just to be writing for the heck of it because until you specifically know who you are writing to, it will be unknown. Someone once said, “when you write to everyone, you are typically writing to no one at all.”

Wow! That’s deep. Remember, the mission is to drive traffic back to your blog. More traffic equates to getting more sponsorship and strengthening your presence for affiliate companies. Without significant traffic, what’s the point of it all?

3. Research your targeted audience

Let’s face it, you won’t magically appear directly in front of your audience. It just doesn’t happen that way. Why? Probably because there are literally hundreds and thousands of other vetted bloggers who have been blogging for decades for your audience. Therefore, you are going to have to do some leg work. Yes, find your audience! Before they will ultimately find you, you will have to find them. Like a cat and mouse game sort of.

Don’t make that face. I promise you can make fun with it and increase your engagement as well. Yes, social media engagement baby!

1A. Where to find your audience

Pinterest is super important for the success of a blogger. Yup, I’ve said it! Look, honestly, I don’t see how you could seriously make it in the blogging world without it!

There are literally over 300 million people surfing Pinterest each month. With an audience that large, it’s so imperative to start putting yourself and your blog out there. It’s like fishing. Consistency is key.

Once you start researching your niche and what people in your niche are blogging about, then you start getting ideas on what you have to offer.

This also gives you an idea of what people in your niche are in need of. Remember, you are seeking to solve their people.

Unfortunately, I didn’t use Pinterest since day 1. Yes, this is my truth! I focused on Instagram and Facebook instead. While those outlets sent me a good audience, it was not consistent.

It was after I paid for a blogging course halfway into blogging, I’ve learned that Pinterest is so indicative of bringing traffic to your blog. There, I got right on it.

2A. Set up your business Pinterest account

Okay, I already explained to you the importance of Pinterest in your blogging business. Now is your time to stop and create a business Pinterest account if you have not done so yet.

It’s super easy and so beneficial! From your personal Pinterest account you can choose to create a free business account. There you’ll be prompted to fill out your business name (blog name) add in the important information in your profile and then claim all of your social media accounts as well as your site to Pinterest.

The next important thing to do before creating Pins is to include keywords throughout your bio, name, and boards. Keywords are important for SEO optimization. This actually brings traffic back to your Pinterest account which could potentially bring your audience to you, voila!

3A. Now that Pinterest is set up, research

Again, start researching what bloggers are creating for their audience in your niche. This will give you a much-needed idea of what kind of pins and content you should perhaps create. Once you have a clear and concise idea, start creating your pins for each blog post that you have already published and ones that you will begin publishing.

3B. Create Successful Pins with paid stock photos

Pinterest typically wants all pins to be vertical with ratios being 2:3. Remember, Pinterest is all about visuals. Make pins that are immediately attractive and will grab your audience’s attention right away. Basically put yourself in their shoes, what will attract your eye, when looking for inspiration or a solution to one’s problem.

When creating successful pins, you’ll want to use clear and bright photos. This typically attracts your audience.

Be careful using free stock photos because they can be dangerous. Unfortunately, there are many bloggers who have been sued for using stock photos that they thought were free.

I started using my own photos and it just didn’t bring me the traffic I’d thought it would. Therefore, I invested in paid stock photos with PicMonkey.

PicMonkey is an online photo editing and design service. I started using PicMonkey since day one of blogging for other services besides Pinterest. I subscribed because they offered a large selection of paid stock photos, along with sample Instagram posts, Facebook posts, Youtube Thumbnails, logos, and many other digital design services for your blogging business. Therefore, this is why I paid for a subscription immediately!

PicMonkey is so convenient and affordable. It’s like your all-in-one shop for online editing and digital services.

If you are interested, click on any of the PicMonkey links and save today when you sign up!

Rule of thumb, with every blog post, a pin should be created and added to Pinterest. Make a habit out of doing this. This is a great way for your audience to find your content and get back to your blog.

4A: Instagram works similar to Pinterest

Instagram, in my opinion, is the next best thing from Pinterest. They seriously go hand in hand. Instagram is also a visual aid and uses pictures to drive engagement and traffic to one’s Instagram page and ultimately their blog.

Use Instagram as a resource not only to share great pictures but also to share great blog content. Once you begin using Instagram for your business purposes, you will begin to see the power that it has. Again, Instagram is a resource. The way you use it is entirely up to you. However, there are many businesses and brands using Instagram daily to find their audience and build their clientele. Guess what, so can you!

5A. Facebook Groups drive traffic

Facebook is important as well. I know many people say and believe that Facebook is for the older generation, but it’s a great resource. Trust me, I started out on Facebook. First of all, there are some fantastic groups on there that can be an extremely good resource for you to connect with other bloggers in your niche.

Actually, my first Facebook group helped me get started. I didn’t quite know what niche I wanted to go with and being able to have conversations with other bloggers was beneficial for me.

Let’s be honest here, who else can you really talk blog business with? Look, my mother had no idea what a blog was. My husband basically thought I just wanted an online diary of my life for everyone to read.

I get it, the natural mind can not and don’t understand blogging. Just like that! However, once you’re immersed in it, then you begin understanding it all. Therefore, it will benefit you to build a collaboration talking with other bloggers. Guess what? They are your virtual co-workers!

You could also ask them to check out your blog posts and give you their feedback. This will produce more traffic to your blog as well. Remember, the mission is to bring more traffic back to your beautiful blog!

Now that I have shared a few key ways to gain organic traffic to your blog, start implementing these strategies right away, and measure your progression.
