There are many family resorts in Orlando, Florida to choose from when visiting the #1 destination for families. While many families choose to stay at Disney Properties, I have found some amazing resorts that also provided outstanding accommodations for families. These resorts are filled with tons of on-site activities, swimming pools, hot tubs, and other unique activities to choose from.

Vacation village at Parkway

If you’re looking for a family resort that provides your family with endless amounts of activity to choose from alongside being just five minutes away from Disney’s most famous theme parks, then Vacation Village at Parkway is perfect for you!

Disclaimer: Although this vacation was sponsored, this review is my personal opinion and ultimate perspective of this resort and experience altogether.

Vacation Village At Parkway Overview

Park Area Between blg. 5 & 6

Vacation Village at Parkway was definitely made with families in mind. When you go to vacation village, you’ll leave revitalized and ready to tackle everyday life. Vacation Village is approximately five minutes away from the major Disney theme parks. The resort has seven swimming pools, a host of Jacuzzis, and two kids splash pads. There’s everything for families to do to stay busy and also something to do for those who are wanting to lay back and relax on the comfort of their balcony. At Vacation Village you are able to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Check-in and Arrival

Registration Lobby

Check-in time at Vacation Village at Parkway begins at 4 o’clock, we arrived at the resort a little after 7:00 PM. Since we are located in Florida, this was a nice road trip for us. Immediately after arriving at the resort, we were greeted by the lobby attendants who directed us where to check-in. The lobby registration area was impeccable. It was well cleaned and presentable.

The resort was not overcrowded like it normally is. Perhaps, the lower occupancy could be a direct result of the pandemic. However, it was relatively easy to check-in. I quickly noticed that there were partitions throughout the front desk area. All of the front desk receptionists and guests wore masks as well. There were plenty of reminders to wear a mask and wash hands throughout the registration area.

Vacation Village Room Tour

Immediately after checking in, I went to my room. My room was located in one of the newer buildings which was building 21. We were booked into a two-unit suite that consisted of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two kitchens, two living rooms, and two balconies. We had two units that were separated and could’ve been easily locked off. This would have been convenient if you were traveling with two separate families but still wanted to be close enough. For example, when we traveled with my parents in the past, my parents had one room, and we had the other side.

Kitchen Overview

Both units are almost completely identical however, the A unit has a full range stove whereas the C unit has a hot plate instead of a full range stove. All units come equipped with full cookware and cutlery. There is also a full-size refrigerator in each unit.

My favorite is that each unit has a washer and dryer. There are only two buildings throughout the entire resort that do not have a washer and dryer inside the units. Buildings one and two have a laundry facility in the building but not in the units. I have truly found that traveling with a large family it is so convenient to have a washer and dryer. We typically wash clothes every night. At Vacation Village at Parkway, they provide you with sample laundry detergent, dish detergent, and extra toiletries as needed.

Love the convenience of a washer and dryer in the unit!

Bathroom Overview

All of the bathrooms also come fully stocked with washcloths and towels. The bathroom is large enough for my size family. It has a full bathtub as well as a two-person shower. The vanity is absolutely a makeup artist’s dream! They also have a separate make-up vanity so that you’re not like me fighting with your husband over who gets the sink and for how long!

Master Bedroom Overview

When you go to Vacation Village at Parkway you’ll definitely love the master beds. The beds are truly comfortable. They come with a host of pillows. Each room is spacious enough for any family to stretch out and relax. Each room comes with a separate TV in the bedroom and in the living room. I don’t know about you, but I really appreciate having the extra TV’s in the unit for my family.

Dining Area and Family Time

Each unit at Vacation Village at Parkway comes with a full dining table with chairs. This is convenient because my family was able to enjoy a family meal together at the table. During this pandemic, if you are not wanting to dine out, you don’t have to at Vacation Village at Parkway because you can enjoy a family meal right from the comfort of your suite.

In our A unit, we had a large sofa sectional that also included a pull out sofa bed! This was great for our family time and for spreading out. Unit C also came with a full sofa and pull out bed. Each unit came with a balcony. Some balconies overlook the pool area while others overlook the conservation area and parking lot. The balconies were furnished with a patio table and chairs. I enjoyed my morning coffee alone for about ten minutes on the balcony until my kids invaded my personal time.

Pools and Activities

Vacation Village at Parkway has seven pools and a host of hot tubs. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic two of those pools were closed. However, they were still five that were readily available for anyone up for a swim or whoever wanted to sunbathe. They required masks throughout the resort. Unless you were swimming or actively eating.

The resort also has a gym facility and two arcades. They also have an activity center that is usually filled with activities and games systems however, due to the pandemic the activities are suspended at this time. They are providing DVD rentals for anyone who is interested.

There is also a playground between buildings five and six. There are a host of grills throughout the resort. There are also outdoor games such as horseshoes available. One of my favorites is the conservation trail. My family enjoyed a nice walk through the trail enjoying nature at its peak.

Vacation Village at Parkway: Location is Key

Vacation Village at Parkway is in the best location ever! We have all heard it before the location is key. Well, Vacation Village at Parkway definitely has an upper hand on some of the other Orlando resorts. There is basically everything right at your fingertips and within a mile and a half radius. Nearest is Publix, Walmart, Chick-fil-A, Target, and a host of other essential shops available. This was the first vacation that I went on with my family and we did not cook in our unit at all!

Each morning we enjoyed Chick-fil-A together as a family. This was our first time trying Chick-fil-A and I have to be honest it’s addicting. However, it was so convenient because we were able to place an order through our mobile app and drive directly across the street and pick up our order. This is what you call true convenience!
