Children who are homeschooled, in my opinion, have the advantage to grow and excel at a faster pace more than the average non-homeschooled child their age.

Homeschooling allows room for one-on-one teaching and learning. Children are taught in their own natural environment and are typically not distracted by any outside influence from the world. This is typical in the public-school setting. Many children are distracted by the influence of others and as a result, are not successful in that environment. Therefore, there is less stress and peer pressure when children are homeschooled.

Now that our children are homeschooled, I find that our children get to work at their own pace. Our children are no longer challenged with keeping up with the state’s standards but are rather challenged by their area of studies. They’re no longer having to compete against the state’s testing criteria or challenged with the pressures of conformity. We teach our children the importance of their own uniqueness. We let them know it great to be different! Just imagine, if every child was taught this and how this alone would build up their self-esteem and self-worth of themselves.

It’s unbelievable how much talent children have, that’s why we believe that it’s absolutely essential to allow children to be themselves to the utmost fullest.

Yes! We also enforce their creativity.

We teach our children not to live according to social desirability and wanting to be desirable by world standards. These are the factors that keep children feeling the need to fit in with the popular crowds. This is sad because this leads to a need for fitting in with unwanted crowds of peers and foes.  My children are not in competition with anyone, but rather in competition with themselves to become the best version of themselves.

I’ve found that homeschooling also allows relationships to grow stronger in a family bond.

Being that children are so impressionable at an early age; parents are able to keep them home and teach them the basics according to their own belief systems.

I remember when our children were mainstreamed, they were being interjected with so much foolish ideology, that I really just could not stand it any longer. They would come home and share their lessons with the most outrageous methodologies any child could fathom.

I believe that homeschooling is a new way of life.

Statistics are suggesting that there are more families who are opting towards this alternative. There are various reasons why parents are doing so. For example, homeschooling, it is safer, more affordable, and more convenient.

There were various issues that our children experienced that made things complicated.

Often times, our children will come home and complain about being bullied and picked on at school.

This was quite concerning for us as parents. When we approached the educators about the concerning information, it seemed as though there was a disconnect. Many of the instructors and staff members weren’t aware of the bullying that has taken place. Or either they were aware but failed to contact parents. This really made things more complicated and highly raised our concerns.

After months of this, we began looking for alternatives. We came to the conclusion that placing our children in, yet another school would be more of a stress. Understanding that the odds of our children experiencing some of the same things were high. We understand that children are going to be children, however, this was not acceptable. We believe that no child should be subjected to bullying. We also believe that it is the sole responsibility of the educators and adult staff to keep the children safe.

Often times children who are bullied are afraid to speak up and ask for help.

That’s why it’s important to have adults there that are able to advocate on their behalf. After, about half of the year of this and going back-and-forth with the school we knew then that we needed to start making plans for the following year. We didn’t want to take our children out of the school year and mess up their educational year. Therefore, we made provisions to start the following school year. We started to prepare ourselves by looking into literature on homeschooling and the methodology that follows.

There, we realize that we were going to homeschool all of our children and utilize the Florida Virtual School’s Flex program. We did just that. Therefore, we began searching for the best laptop computers for online students. We were very specific and knew we needed something that was kid-friendly but also able to withstand the tools needed for online learning. Thankfully we came across Google Chromebook fromHP Chromebook 14-inch Laptop with 180-Degree Hinge, Full HD Screen, AMD Dual-Core A4-9120 Processor, 4 GB SDRAM, 32 GB eMMC Storage, Chrome OS (14-db0050nr, Snow White)""” rel=”noopener noreferrer”> Amazon. After checking the reviews, we made our decision. We purchased three chrome books that way each of them would have their own computer to use.

In the state of Florida school starts in mid-August. However, we were so anxious to get started that we began our school year ahead of time in June. We registered our children with the state and county as a homeschool family and we began our journey as a full homeschool family!

What We Love About Homeschooling!

Being a homeschool family has been liberating! Literally, we are able to enjoy our family without having to break up our day. It is the most exciting transition that we’ve ever experienced.

As I think back on it, I am upset that I allowed my children to experience the public-school system. However, I am thankful that we were brave enough to decide to homeschool. We went against the odds and broke generational curses by making a decision. We decided what we want it and we had the courage enough to go after it. I encourage all parents to consider this avenue. Even if it seems farfetched. Trust me, if you asked us if we were ever going to homeschool two years ago, we will tell you “heck no!” I’ll fill you in on the next post on the challenges with homeschooling. However, I promise you that the benefits far away from the challenges.

Stand up for your children! Your children are your greatest asset. If you don’t stand up and advocate for them, who on earth will? This is something that we seriously had to keep in mind and ask ourselves?
