Spread the love

Our Louisiana lodging and attraction accommodations were covered. However, all my opinions are my own.

Traveling with my family is one of the most exciting things that we do.

Visiting Lafayette, Louisiana

We truly enjoy visiting new places and creating new experiences. This time, we took our adventures to Lafayette Louisiana. Lafayette is in the South-central part of Louisiana. It is also known as the Acadian or Cajun part of Louisiana.

This was our family’s first time visiting Lafayette Louisiana. We were able to explore the different traditions and foods. We learned the difference between Creole and Cajun and immersed ourselves in their culture.

Where We Stayed In Lafayette

For starters, we stayed at the Drury Inn and Suites. This hotel was truly accommodating and offered both complimentary breakfast and dinner with nightly beverages included. We stayed in a connecting two double beds room. There was enough room for my family and I. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful.

Places to Eat In Lafayette

I know that you heard that people travel all the way across the world to visit Louisiana, just for their amazing food. Well, I’m here to tell you that the rumors are true! The food in Lafayette, Louisiana was absolutely magnificent. It was the best in all my experience visiting different parts of Louisiana.

We went to Fezzo’s and my goodness! The food was out of this world! This is where my family tried the famous Boudin Balls for the very first time. They LOVED them. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable about the recipes. If you’re ever in Lafayette, you have to be sure to visit Fezzo’s.

We also visited Don’s seafood restaurant. This restaurant was super busy when we arrived. Be sure to make reservations. This place is gorgeous inside. The reviews are amazing. Our service was great and the food was delicious as well.

Our favorite restaurant that we visited was Randall’s restaurant.

Let me just say, if you have not been to Randall’s restaurant, it’s definitely a must. Not only was the service absolutely amazing but the food was equally as great.
My family and I had a host of appetizers and even tried crawfish for the very first time. Our server was truly kind, she gave us a tutorial on how to properly eat crawfish. It was such an amazing experience. The Cajun on the crawfish was delicious!

Lisa tried their seafood Etouffee and it was everything!! The flavors were amazing. It was so amazing that when we went home, I tried to replicate the recipe. I couldn’t stand a chance but it was a good try. Lol! Did I mention there’s a live band on the weekends too! This was such an incredible experience.

Things to do in Lafayette, Louisiana

The Children’s Museum of Acadian was our first stop. This Children’s Museum was interactive and was filled with some amazing things to do. My family thoroughly enjoyed this attraction.

Next, we visited Zoosiana. If you haven’t checked our blog post and review be sure to do so.

This was another great family-friendly and attraction.

We were able to explore the history of the Acadians and Native Americans at Vermilionville. They offer guided tours however, you can certainly wander on your own. That’s what we did. We were able to walk and enjoy the adventures of the historical homes, churches, and schools.

Last but not least we enjoyed the Art Walk. Every second Saturday of the month, there’s the Art Walk in downtown Lafayette. This was a great experience as we were able to explore local shops and vendors in the area.

We enjoyed our extended veteran’s weekend in Lafayette, Louisiana! I can’t wait to visit again. If you are thinking about visiting, be sure to check out Lafayette
